At Medstar Clinic, we do our best to offer a full body checkup in London to our patients with our health screening services . A check-up is a comprehensive health screening.

It is a series of medical control methods that allow the diagnosis and treatment of some existing diseases or possible health problems that people are not aware of.

The age, complaints, genetic and environmental factors, and bad habits, if any, of people who want to have a check-up are evaluated by a specialist physician, and an appropriate package is prepared.

With the data, it is determined which tests will be performed on individuals, which radiological imaging examinations will be performed, and in which medical branches they will be examined.

The purpose of check-up services is to analyse whether healthy people apply for control purposes, whether they have a health problem, or whether they will face any disease threat in the future.

During health screenings, diseases that do not cause symptoms can be detected, and thus health problems that may occur in the future can be prevented.

Some diseases do not immediately cause symptoms that patients cannot understand even if they do. The most common of these may be diabetes, cholesterol disease, heart-blood pressure diseases, and some types of cancer.

Check-ups may reveal genetically predisposed diseases that are not noticed because the individual may not show any symptoms. With routine check-ups, necessary preventive methods can be planned before these diseases occur, and more serious diseases that may occur can be prevented.

At What Age Should I Consider Getting a Full Body Checkup?

As a general habit, people tend to see a doctor “after they are sick." However, in today's medicine, the priority is to prevent the person from getting sick with the methods we call preventive medicine

For this purpose, the most ideal approach would be to take preventive measures before diseases occur and prevent health deterioration as early as possible.

The answer to the question of when a check-up should be performed varies depending on age, gender, genetic characteristics, lifestyle, and past health history.

In general, the recommended age for a patient who does not have any health complaints starts at 20. At this age, it will be useful to have your cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure values measured. It is recommended that you have a full body checkup every year, especially after the age of 35.

However, these time intervals are only valid for people who do not have any risk factors. The time intervals and frequencies of recommended check-ups may vary for people with familial risk factors (genetic diseases in the family).

At Medstar Clinic, we are always here to protect your health and prevent diseases with our personalised check-up packages. By devoting one day a year to checkups, you can look forward to your future with confidence and protect your health.

What are the Key Components of a Comprehensive Full-Body Checkup?

For optimal results, check-up procedures must take place in well-equipped hospitals with extensive experience in this field.

The comprehensive examination process, overseen by medical professionals, begins with a personalised assessment of individuals applying for check-ups. This ensures tests and examinations are tailored to each person’s unique health history.

The range of tests conducted at Medstar Clinic is diverse and includes crucial screenings for various health concerns. Lung X-rays play an important role in the early detection of lung diseases.

A general full-body checkup includes:

  • A physical examination

  • Measurement of fat in blood

  • Measuring blood sugar

  • Blood cell count measurements related to metabolic indicators

  • Liver and kidney function test

  • Lung imaging

  • Urine tests

  • Examinations related to the eye, ear, nose, and throat

  • Examination of intra-abdominal organs

  • Heart examinations

  • Thyroid and hormone tests

  • Breast examination in women

Laboratory tests are an integral part of check-ups at Medstar Clinic, such as:

  • Encompassing examinations like liver tests, cholesterol, and triglyceride evaluations

  • Hemogram (complete blood count)

  • Haemoglobin tests for diabetes detection

  • Electrolyte tests for assessing blood salts and body fluid balance

  • Sedimentation tests for identifying bacterial diseases and infections

  • Occult blood tests for detecting gastrointestinal issues

How Often Should I Undergo a Full Body Checkup?

Typically, individuals without health complaints are advised to commence regular health checkups at the age of 20, focusing on measuring cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure values. It is advisable to undergo a check-up annually, especially after reaching 35–40 years of age.

However, these recommended time intervals apply to individuals without identified risk factors. For those with familial risk factors, such as a history of genetic diseases in the family, the time intervals and frequency of check-ups may vary.

At Medstar Clinic, we stand by you to safeguard your health and prevent diseases through our tailored check-up packages. For your well-being, make sure to dedicate a day to your health with a check-up, allowing you to approach the future with confidence and maintain your well-being.

Are There Any Specific Preparations Required Before a Full Body Checkup?

People who will have a check-up must first make an appointment at the hospital by choosing a suitable time slot. When making an appointment at Medstar Clinic, you will be reminded that you should not eat or drink anything for at least 8 hours before the procedure.

This is necessary for the examinations and analyses to be performed to give more accurate results. You should bring any prior analyses or radiological images with you.

Do not consume alcohol until 48 hours before the procedure, and switch to a light nutrition programme. Stop taking blood thinners under the doctor's supervision a few days before a full body checkup

Avoid consuming foods such as red meat products and broccoli a few days before the procedure to avoid the risk of false-positive blood results. Cutting out vitamin C supplements or foods containing vitamin C, as they will affect blood values.

Medications that increase iron and other values should be discontinued before the procedure, as they may also affect results. Female patients must be careful not to coincide the check-up date with their menstrual period.

If female patients need an examination such as mammography, they should only take a shower before the procedure and should not use cosmetic products such as deodorant, perfume, or cream. Women who are pregnant or suspected of pregnancy are advised not to have a check-up.
